Specialized Therapy and Assessments for Children and Adolescents

Individual Therapy

The purpose of Individual Therapy is to change unhealthy coping mechanisms into healthy ones, to enable the client to understand their emotions, and to learn new tools to manage those emotions.

Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessments help identify an individual's specific needs and guide targeted support. Two main types serve different purposes: psychoeducational assessments focus on learning abilities, while psychological evaluations examine emotional and behavioral functioning.

Psychoeducational assessments examine how children learn by testing cognitive abilities, academic skills, and executive functioning. These evaluations identify learning disabilities, depression, anxiety, and/or ADHD, and results help create classroom accommodations and education plans.

Psychological evaluations take a broader approach, exploring emotional and behavioral challenges through interviews, observations, and testing. They investigate mental health conditions, emotional regulation, and social functioning when these issues significantly impact a child's daily life.

Client Experiences And
Success Stories

“Our daughter has been seeing Dr. Harbor since first grade and is now entering high school. He provided an accurate diagnosis early on and has supported her through CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and consistent biweekly check-ins. Dr. Harbor has also been instrumental in securing school support, including an IEP, and advocating for her needs when necessary. As we transition into high school, we are incredibly relieved to know he will continue to support us in the years ahead. Having an expert who truly understands your child and advocates for their confidence, independence, and success makes all the difference.”

“Dr. Harbor treated our family with such care and attention that it truly felt like we were his only clients. From the very beginning, he was incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and compassionate. It was clear that he genuinely cared about my daughter’s well-being throughout the entire testing process. He consistently kept us informed, took the time to answer every question, and explained each step in a way that made us feel confident and supported. He also went above and beyond in communicating with my daughter’s school, ensuring she had the support she needed. We are deeply grateful for his care.”

"Dr. Harbor is an intuitive and caring therapist for adolescents. My son struggles with focus, emotional regulation, and ADHD-related impulsivity. Even things as "simple" as speaking at a normal volume are not easy for him. Dr. Harbor worked with him to respond more appropriately in social situations and learn to admit fault. Dr. Harbor tackled one thing at a time, recommending strategies that have had a lasting impression on our son’s confidence and emotional success. We are so grateful!"
